  • House Cross Country

    Wed 15 Mar 2017
On a beautiful sunny afternoon the whole school took to the sports field for our annual House Cross Country event. Mrs Hyde lead a great warm up which had everyone ready for running! This was the first time that Acorn and Oak class have participated and they showed no signs of nerves as they all started at a strong pace! In the YrR/1 race Zack and William took an early lead and finished first and second respectively. Holly M was close behind in third place and the first girl to cross the finishing line. Yr2 ran a two lap course and Louie and Pippa were the first boy and girl to cross the line. The Yr3/4 race was very competitive and Conor had to sprint to pass Jayden a few hundred metres from the line. Maria showed great running and was the first girl to cross the line in sixth place overall. Yr5/6 had four laps to complete and the boys lead changed throughout but it was Aiden who put in a very strong finish to cross the line in 1st. Grace Ca was the first girl. Every single child completed the course, despite a few tumbles, and earnt points for their house- the winning house will be revealed on Friday! Thank you to all the staff who ran, parents who supported and helped and Mrs Hyde for setting out the course and leading the warm up.

Our Y5/6 athletics team took part in the Basingstoke regional finals today- we were in the top 8 schools of 45 in the Basingstoke area so it was a real achievement to qualify. We're also the only school to have qualified for the finals in two sports- netball and athletics! The whole team performed really well across a wide range of events. We finished 8th but felt very proud of our achievement!

  • Creative Curriculum

    Thu 02 Feb 2017
This afternoon has seen some really creative history and science lessons. Robin class have been in role as Ancient Egyptian slaves who have been summoned to build a pyramid for the Pharaoh. They've been thinking about how it would feel and learning about how they were made. Falcon class have been exploring their taste buds with blue dye on their tongues and using our fantastic new digital microscopes to examine them up close. They also created their own digestive systems to look at the journey of a sandwich through the human body- it was messy and hugely engaging! Look at our twitter account for some interesting photos!
  • Athletics Success!

    Wed 25 Jan 2017
Twelve of our Y5/6 children represented the school in the first round of the Hampshire Indoor Athletics competition. The children put in some excellent track and field performances- particularly in the relay with some brilliant baton changes which was a result of all the practice in running club! Overall we came second which meant we have qualified for the next round! This is a great achievement and we will be working hard to ensure we can do as well as we can. Well done to the whole team!
