Oak Year 1/2

Welcome to Oak Class

Teacher: Mrs Barraclough

LSA: Mrs Burroughs & Miss Smith

autumn 2 2022

We are continuing our topic of Fire! Fire!  We have learnt lots of information about the Great Fire and will be reviewing and extending our knowledge of the event and applying this to our everyday lives.

General Information

Our PE days are Monday (outside) and Wednesday (inside).

Our library day is Friday, although the children have the option to change their books more frequently as required.

The children are enjoying the Little Wandle guided reading sessions and are showing excellent progress using their developing phonic knowledge to read books with fluency and prosody.  We will continue to read these books at least three times during the week and send the books home for your children to share how well they are getting on with their reading at home.  We are able to change our Sharing books (library books) everyday if needed and have timetabled Tuesday and Friday to spend some time in the school library looking at and choosing appropriate books.  Please continue to record any reading your child is doing at home in their reading records and ensure they bring their reading records to school everyday.

Year Two children will have access to the coloured book banded scheme and can change their library books frequently.  They may have keep up sessions and be included in Little Wandle reading groups to continue to improve their confidence and fluency with reading.

There are many books and reading activities that your child can access using their Purple Mash log in.

All children need to bring their reading records to school everyday.  Thank you for your support in this.

School Values

Our School Value this term is REFLECTION.

Ralph The Reflective Racoon

We look back at what we have done and learn from it.

We want to grow and be the best version of ourselves.

We listen to others.

We give and receive feedback and use it to improve.

Please let me know if you notice your child showing the value of reflection at home and we can celebrate this in school.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or queries and I will do my best to answer them.  I look forward to getting to know your children and supporting them in their learning.

Thank you for your support.

Mrs Barraclough
