Spring Term 1 2020

We are finding out how travel and transport has changed in the last 100 years this half term in our 'Travel and Transport' topic work.  We will be visiting Milestones Museum to look at various modes of transport and find out what different vehicles are used for, comparing them with modern day versions.  The children will be designing and making their own vehicles using equipment such as saws, sandpaper and axles and we will be displaying our vehicles in our own Oak Class Museum.

In English we are learning about the adventures of Mr Gumpy and Mrs Armitage and will be writing our own versions of the stories.  We will be looking at non-fiction books related to our topic and will be concentrating on reading for fluency and retrieval of information in Guided Reading.

Our main focus for our maths lessons is to develop our understanding of calculations, looking at addition and subtraction and beginning to explore multiplication as repeated addition.

We change library books every Monday. Home readers can be changed by the children as often as they wish and we encourage them to take responsibility for choosing their reading books in the book area outside of our classroom.   The children need their PE kits in school every day although our regular PE days are Tuesday and Friday.

We operate an open door policy and are happy to talk with you at the beginning  or end of the school day - if a more formal discussion is needed then an appointment can be made with the office.
