Burghclere School Band (BSB)

The School has a thriving and well-supported Brass Band under the direction of Mr Llewellyn. All children in Key Stage 2 are encouraged to learn an instrument - of which there is a large number available for free loan to school pupils - and to join the band.

BSB is well known at events across Newbury and North Hampshire. The band plays at many local events and functions within Burghclere and Newbury.

Band rehearsals take place on Mondays, after school, in the School Hall. Brass lessons are also held on Mondays during the school day. The school also offers guitar tuition and the opportunity for children to sing in a choir.

The Band is supported by the Burghclere School Band Association: present and past parents who mix social fun with necessary fund raising.

Parents who are interested in their child joining band should contact the office for details of costs. The main recruitment to tuition and the band is towards the end of the summer term, and children are expected to commit to then playing for a full school year.
