Governor Information

The Governing Body

Burghclere’s governing body is made up of a team of volunteers including staff, parents and members of the local community.  This diversity helps to ensure that the school benefits from a wide range of skills, interests and experiences.

What do Governors do?

The main role of Governors is:

  • To ensure that the school has a clear vision, ethos and strategic direction.
  • To hold the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils.
  • To oversee the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
  • To safeguard and promote the welfare of children who are pupils at the school.

The governing body meet regularly throughout the school year.  In addition, we have delegated committees who meet each term to focus and report back to the governing body on:

  • Finance and Business
  • Curriculum and Standards

If you would like to see a copy of the Governing Body minutes, please contact the school office.
