Spring Term 1 2019
We are learning all about our Wonderful Weather this half term.
The children have been busy writing narratives based on the Cat, Bramble and Heron Talk4Writing story and are now learning and writing poems and rhymes about the weather.
In mathematics we are focusing on multiplication and division and looking at fractions of shapes, numbers and quantities.
We are looking forward to being part of the KS1 Giant Sing at the Anvil Festival Theatre in Basingstoke on Wednesday 6th February and we have been learning a variety of songs based on Barnaby Bears Adventures at Sea!
Our 'Wonderful Weather' topic this half term includes us identifying seasonal and daily weather patterns, observing changes across the four seasons and creating a collage depicting the four seasons, which we will showcase to our parents and carers, in our Art Gallery on Thursday 7th February at 2.30pm with a parents mathematics workshop straight after at 2.45pm. We look forward to seeing you there!
The children will continue to bring their reading records and books home to share with you and we encourage them to change these books in the library outside our classroom as often as they can. Year one children will be bringing a phonics pack home to support them in learning the phonic sounds needed for the Phonic Screening in the summer term. We are hearing the children read at school at various times throughout the school day and during guided reading sessions. Any opportunities to hear and encourage your child to read at school and at home are invaluable to their learning!
Our P.E. days are: Monday and Friday
